Nnedi Okorafor Event Thursday Afternoon

ConQuesT 47’s author guest of honor, Nigeran-American author Nnedi Okorafor, will discuss her award-winning science fiction and fantasy books at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Kansas City Public Library’s L.H. Bluford Branch, 3050 Prospect Ave., Kansas City MO.

For details and to RSVP, see

Okorafor is an award-winning novelist of African-based
science fiction, fantasy and magical realism for both children
and adults.

Celebration at the Station After ConQuesT

One benefit of ConQuesT’s return to the Sheraton in Crown Center is our proximity to Celebration at the Station, a free outdoor concert followed by fireworks at Union Station on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 8 p.m. It’s only two blocks from the hotel. If you plan to go, consider bringing folding chairs or a blanket to sit on.

The Kansas City Symphony will play a two-hour concert of patriotic favorites, such as The Stars and Stripes Forever and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.

NOTE: This event draws a large crowd, and some nearby streets will be blocked off. If you use any of the free parking options near Crown Center and leave your space on Sunday afternoon or evening (to go to dinner, for example), you will have lots of competition for those spaces when you return. Plan accordingly!
